1. 50 individuals with type 2 diabetes consented to participate in a research study. Subjects were randomly assigned to receive either a low carbohydrate diet (intervention group: n=25) or a typical American diet (as per NHANES study findings: control group: n=25). Both groups ate the same meals and each of their meals in the clinical research center for two weeks. After two weeks, the subjects in the intervention group had lower fasting blood sugar levels than those in the control group.
